Juan José Roro broke the national M50 record in the 100-meter hurdles on a day with the participation of athletes from Aragon and Catalonia
Fraga hosted the tenth edition of the Fraga Meeting last Saturday, June 6th , an event held at the municipal track that brought together nearly 130 athletes from Aragon and Catalonia. The day, marked by pleasant temperatures and favorable winds for the sprint events, saw Juan José Roro set a new Spanish M50 record in the 100-meter hurdles , along with several other notable performances by local athletes and those from the surrounding Bajo Cinca region.
Speed, middle distance and national record
In the women's 100 meters, the victory went to Laia Monforte from Catalonia, who stopped the clock at 11.95 seconds. Following her was Mireya Oliver, an athlete from Osso de Cinca, with a time of 12.06 seconds . The runner from the Bajo Cinca region once again placed herself close to the times that keep her in contention for qualification for the Spanish National Championships.
In the men's 200 meters, Antonio Maza achieved a personal best and came close to breaking the 22-second barrier. In the 1.500 meters, Rubén Manzano won with a time of 3:57 after securing the victory on the final lap.
One of the highlights of the afternoon was the Master M50 category. Juan José Roro, an athlete from Zuera, broke the Spanish record for the 100-meter hurdles , giving the Fraga meeting one of the most outstanding performances of its tenth edition.
Rubén Cruz surpasses 17 meters in weight
In the field events, Rubén Cruz, an athlete from Fraga representing FC Barcelona , set a new personal best in the shot put with the 5-kilogram implement. His best throw reached 17,48 meters, a mark that raised the bar for competition in the throwing events.
Local prominence on the Fraga track
The Fraga team also had a presence in several events. Nacho Orús set a personal best in the 200 meters with a time of 23.00 seconds, while Álex Margalló lowered his time in the 400 meters to 51.80.
Iván Gross competed in the 100 meters despite physical discomfort. Víctor Pardos and Izan Larroya made their debuts on the Fraga track, in a day that also featured Mariona Salamó and Ares Gómez in the sprints.
Fadwa Lachhab won the 3.000 meters, an event in which María Chavarría also participated . In the long jump, Awa Sangaré, Nerea Santamaría, and Laia Salamó completed the local contingent with jumps close to five meters.
The meeting concluded with the awards for the best local athletes, which went to Mariona Salamó and Iván Gross.
