Vetusta Morla, who will perform at the Lanuza Natural Auditorium on Friday, July 12, have sold out all tickets several weeks before the start of the festival, which this year runs from July 4 to 28.
This edition will also feature Melendi, Ricky Martin, Silvia Pérez Cruz, La Plazuela, Estrella Morente, and the show "La leyenda del tiempo" (The Legend of Time), with Camarón's own children and the musicians who accompanied him on the recording of the album.
Vetusta Morla has just achieved the first sold-out show of the 31st edition of the Pyrenees South International Cultures Festival , which will be held this year from July 4th to 28th. The band will perform on the Lanuza stage on Friday, July 12th, in a very special evening that will kick off with a concert by the Bilbao quartet Airu.
The long-running Huesca festival boasts a lineup of international music stars this year, who will showcase their world music on the spectacular floating stage in Lanuza. Ricky Martin, Lila Downs, Lorena McKennitt, Sara Baras, El Drogas, and Mon Laferte are just some of the acts. The festival also features an opening weekend dedicated to flamenco, with renowned figures such as Israel Fernández, Estrella Morente , and a tribute concert to "La leyenda del tiempo." This last event offers a unique opportunity in Spain to see the singer's own children (Gema, Rocío, and Luis de Camarón) share the stage with the musicians who accompanied him on the recording of this seminal album: Jorge Pardo, Carles Benavent, Tino Di Geraldo, and Pedro el Granaíno.
New album and farewell (until 2026)
Hailing from Tres Cantos, Madrid, Vetusta Morla has been offering songs full of poetry, social commentary, and a touch of psychedelia since 1998. Their debut album, "Un día en el mundo" (2008), catapulted them to fame, and they haven't stopped racking up hits since. On April 25th, the band announced via social media the release of their new album, "Figurantes," and revealed they would be taking a break until 2026 —a hiatus to try living for a while outside the Vetusta Morla orbit and the frenetic pace demanded by such a large-scale project. While they wouldn't be embarking on a two-year tour, as they had been doing, after the new album's release on May 31st, they did commit to fulfilling their existing engagements, such as this concert at Pirineos Sur, which promises to be a very special gig under the Pyrenean stars.
“Figurantes” is the group’s latest work, a selection of snippets and songs compiled during their last tour, in which they rescued ideas and sketches without a clear plan or concept to explore. This creative process has given the album a genuine freshness, free from any creative pressure.
The Bilbao trio Airu will open a magical evening in Lanuza
Irune Vega, the creative mind behind Airu, brought this musical project to life in the summer of 2018. What began as a solo venture soon transformed into a full band. After captivating audiences with several singles and a couple of EPs, Airu solidified its path in 2023 with the release of its first full-length album: “Con lo bueno y con pena” (Oso Polita). This album marked a new milestone for the band, exploring sounds that transcend the dream pop label and showcasing their versatility as artists.
