The resident of Bajo/Baix Cinca is in the Arnau de Vilanova Hospital in Lleida
The incident apparently occurred on Sunday, January 21, as reported by several media outlets. The alleged perpetrator was arrested on Monday near the hospital where the woman had been taken, after the hospital itself alerted authorities because her injuries appeared to be consistent with a case of gender-based violence.
The 60-year-old woman, a resident of Ontiñena, remains hospitalized in serious condition. The couple is being held in Fraga, awaiting their court appearance.
