The incident occurred at approximately 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, September 17th, at kilometer marker 6,600 of the A-1234 road (Fraga – Monzón), northbound, within the municipality of Zaidín.
The following information is sent via the 112 SOS Aragón Emergency Room to the Traffic Operations Center of the Civil Guard in Huesca:
At 8:03 p.m. today, a traffic accident occurred at kilometer point 6,600 of the A-1234 road (Fraga – Monzón), uphill direction and municipal boundary of Zaidín, consisting of a rear collision of a car to an articulated vehicle.
As a result, the occupant of the front right seat of the car died and the driver was seriously injured, who was treated on site by medical personnel from 061 and transferred by medical ambulance to the Arnau Vilanova Hospital in the town of Lleida.
The deceased co-pilot was taken by funeral services to the Institute of Legal Medicine in Zaragoza. The two men, aged 24 (deceased) and 28 (seriously injured), were both residents of Lleida.
The truck driver was unharmed; he was a 54-year-old man and a resident of the Campo de Cariñena region (Zaragoza).
The uphill lane remains closed until it is clear, giving alternative passage through the adjacent lane.
At the scene were a patrol from the Traffic Detachment of the Civil Guard of Fraga, the Road Accident Team (EIS) of the Road Safety Investigation Unit (UNIS) of the Traffic Subsector of the Civil Guard of Huesca, two Citizen Security patrols of the Civil Guard of Fraga and Zaidín, a fire crew and a medicalized ambulance from 061.
The Traffic Division of the Civil Guard, based in Huesca, is investigating the possible causes of the accident.
