The mayors of the municipalities along this road have met to learn about the progress. The meeting, held at the roadside, was also attended by the Director General of Roads and Infrastructure for the Government of Aragon and representatives of the company that is drafting the project, will carry out the construction, and will maintain the road for 25 years.
The drafting of the project for the improvement of the A-1411 road, which connects the towns of Mequinenza, Fayón, Nonaspe, Fabara, and Maella, is still being finalized. According to the Mequinenza Town Hall, the process is in its final stages, and they expect construction to begin in June. Once the project starts, the work must be completed within 30 months, so it could still take about three years to see the project finished.
The mayors of the five towns, Antonio Sanjuán, Roberto Cabistany, Fernando Taberner, Juan Jesús Villalba and María Elena Bondía, have learned “in situ” about the progress in the drafting of the project in a roadside visit in which Miguel Ángel Arminio, general director of roads and infrastructures of the Government of Aragon, and representatives of the company awarded the improvement and maintenance contract, the Temporary Union of Companies (UTE) ACYC Obras y Servicios and SLU-PAVASAL Empresa Constructora, SA, participated.
Municipal officials have proposed some improvements to the document being prepared at various points along the 39 kilometers of the road to see if they can be incorporated into the final project, taking into account environmental and budgetary limitations, with a total allocation of 28 million euros, of which 17 million are allocated to investment and the rest to maintenance during the 25 years indicated, as established by the Extraordinary Investment Plan for Roads of the Aragonese Regional Road Network 2020-2025 approved in the last legislature.
The road improvement works on the A-1411 are divided into three sections. Two will undergo complete resurfacing, and the third will involve pavement reinforcement. This project, included in Route 1 of the Plan as Implementation Unit 4, could begin between May and June and must be completed within 30 months. It includes widening the road to 6 meters on the 2,9-kilometer Mequinenza-Puerto section, widening the road on the 28-kilometer section from Puerto to Fabara, and reinforcing the pavement on the 8-kilometer section from Fabara to the junction with the N-211 highway in Maella.
