Club Patín Fraga lost 1-2 at home against Vila-Sana and will have to wait to qualify for the next phase
Had they scored, with a win or a draw, Club Patín Fraga would have mathematically secured their place in the quarterfinals of the Women's Roller Hockey Champions League. However, the Catalan team made it difficult for the home side and took the victory in this latest encounter between the two teams.
Fraga took the lead with a goal from Adriana Soto in a packed Sotet pavilion filled with fans dressed in the colors of the local carnival. Before halftime, Vicky Porta leveled the score at 1-1 for Vila-Sana with a shot from almost midfield that caught the Esneca defense off guard. In the second half, a blue card, awarded to the Catalan side, allowed the visitors, again through Porta, to seal the 2-1 victory.
With two matchdays remaining, Fraga continues to lead the group with six points. Vila-Sana and Portuguese side Benfica each have three points and will face each other in the next round. Meanwhile, Club Patín Fraga will play its final match of this phase in Portugal.
The top two teams from each group qualify. Several scenarios favor the team from Bajo/Baix Cinca. If the Catalan and Portuguese teams draw in the next match, the Fraga team would secure their place. However, we'll have to wait and see how this competitive phase unfolds.
