The president of the Provincial Council of Huesca and the mayor of Fraga were among the authorities who joined the municipality in this celebration.
Torrente de Cinca celebrated its patron saint's day, San Salvador (August 6), today with the procession of the "Pan Beneit" (Blessed Bread) and Mass. The mayor, Rubén Morell, and the rest of the municipal council were joined by numerous residents and several provincial and regional authorities. Isaac Claver, president of the Huesca Provincial Council, traveled to the Bajo/Baix Cinca region to join the residents of Torrente on their special day. Ignacio Gramun, mayor of Fraga , and other regional authorities also attended .
The residents of Torrente de Cinca gathered at 10:30 a.m. on the last day of their festivities at the Town Hall to witness the departure of the "Pan Beneit," a large sponge cake and meringue, carried by the women of Torrente from last year's festival. It is the main offering to the town's patron saint , who also processed through the streets of Torrente, in this case carried on the shoulders of local residents and young men turning 20 this year.
Throughout the morning there was no shortage of music provided by the "Armonía" brass band from Cretas and the members of the parish choir of Torrente de Cinca.
At the Magdalena parish church, the "Pan de Beneit" (Blessed Bread) was blessed and distributed to all attendees after Mass. Isaac Claver, president of the Provincial Council, highlighted "those distinctive elements that stem from the history and tradition of each town and that make possible unique festivities that promote a sense of belonging and encourage people to settle in the area."
Tonight, the Grand Fireworks Display will bring this year's festivities to a close , after five days of celebration that have left a great taste in the mouths of locals and visitors alike.
