More than an opinion piece, this is an exercise in transparency 😉
A couple of days ago we shared the video of our visit to the Fraga Ice Well, including an interview with the head of tourism. We posted it on all of Diario del Bajo Cinca's social media profiles, including TikTok: https://www.tiktok.com/@diariobajocinca
This social network's security policy, presumably due to its algorithm and AI, interpreted the video as a "dangerous" challenge, likely because of the "visiting an ice well" reference in the title, and therefore didn't display the video in the feed. Algorithms and artificial intelligence aren't perfect.
How did we detect the block? Every time we upload content to TikTok, it reaches an average of 500 views in just a few hours (or minutes). This time, it barely reached 50. Once we verified this, we filed the appropriate complaint, and the appeal was approved quite quickly.
The video quickly tripled its views, but that's nothing compared to the impact a post achieves organically in the first few minutes or hours after publication. However, it will surely reach the channel's usual average soon.
Continuous, organic monitoring, observation, and measurement are essential in the digital marketing era. We'll keep you updated 😉
