The Civil Guard is investigating two people for 33 counts of falsifying medical prescriptions.
The alleged perpetrators forged prescriptions to obtain medications with psychotropic components; several pharmacies in the provinces of Huesca and Zaragoza, including six in the lower Cinca region, were affected.
Agents from the Crimes Against Persons Team of the UOPJ of the Civil Guard of Huesca, within the framework of Operation Avizón, have investigated two people, as alleged perpetrators of 33 crimes of falsification of documents, by using falsified medical prescriptions to obtain in pharmacies medicines with psychotropic components, whose consumption without control entails a serious risk to health, and which can be used for illegal sale.
The agents began the investigation in March 2.023 after learning that, in the previous month, an individual had acquired several medications, including Toseina and Trankimazin, at a pharmacy in the town of Monzón using a false prescription, and this fact was reported to the Official College of Pharmacists of Huesca.
The alleged perpetrators used the official format of medical prescriptions from the Community of Catalonia and a stamp indicating that it had been issued by a clinic in the town of Lleida.
Likewise, the barcode on these prescriptions was always the same, falsifying the registration number of the licensed physician who signed them. They then presented these prescriptions at pharmacies, sometimes obtaining the medications and other times without success. Using this forgery technique, they managed to defraud two pharmacies in the Somontano region, two in the Cinca Medio region, six in the Bajo Cinca region, and three in Zaragoza.
Following the investigations carried out by agents of the UOPJ of the Civil Guard of Huesca to ascertain the events that occurred, on January 25 they proceeded to identify and investigate the alleged perpetrators, who were two men aged 62 and 44 respectively, residents of the town in the province of Barcelona, already repeat offenders in crimes of document forgery.
The Crimes Against Persons Team of the UOPJ of the Civil Guard of Huesca, prepared proceedings for 33 alleged crimes of document falsification, which were handed over to the Court of First Instance and Instruction No. 2 of Barbastro.
