Around 200 cyclists took part in the sporting event held this Saturday, March 28, in the Bajo/Baix Cinca region.
Velilla de Cinca experienced a weekend of pure cycling with the Transvelillense BTT 2026, which brought together more than 200 riders for the Aragon XCM Championship and confirmed its status as one of the major events on the regional calendar. A demanding, well-organized race with a growing female presence, it was decided after more than four hours of intense effort and a rigorous selection process on the course.
The race broke apart early. From a large initial group, it narrowed to a selection of seven or eight riders who ultimately formed the key move of the day: the breakaway of Roberto Bou, César González, and Bruno Garcés.
For many kilometers, the trio rode at the front, keeping a chasing group at bay that hovered around 40 seconds behind. But this balance wasn't permanent. On the first demanding climbs, Bou began to up the pace with gradual attacks, testing his breakaway companions.
The third and fourth offensives brought the decisive moment. César González held firm, while Bruno Garcés struggled to close the gaps. Finally, Bou launched the decisive attack, which went unanswered.
From there, the rider put on a solo show, riding at a steady pace and widening the gap to the finish line to win decisively.
Behind them, the battle for the podium kept the excitement alive until the very end. Garcés and González rode together for much of the decisive stage until, on the climb to the old reservoir, Garcés attacked to secure second place. González completed the podium after a very solid performance.
In the women's category, the race once again highlighted the growth of women's cycling with 12 riders participating. Izaskun Etxeberrio, Eva Elbaile, and Esther Ruiz rode together for much of the course, demonstrating equality and competitiveness. The race was decided in the final kilometers, where Etxeberrio increased her pace to take the victory, followed by Elbaile and Ruiz.
As for the results, in the elite category Roberto Bou took first place ahead of Bruno Garcés and Jorge Lamiel. In the under-23 category, Óscar Aparicio won, with Marcos Soler in second place and César González in third.
In the Masters 50 category, Miquel Jaudé took the victory, followed by Carlos Pina and Marçal Tarragona. In Masters 40, Daniel Díaz was the fastest, with Diego Guillén second and Diego El Heredero third. In Masters 30, Iván Romero won, ahead of Andrés Siso and Antonio Otaño.
In the Masters 60 category, Venancio Navarro topped the standings, followed by José Luis Rubio and Fernando Fañanas. In the Junior category, Mario Montolío beat Lucas Milian and Mario Espinosa.
The Transvelillense race has once again stood out for its organization, with a large security detail, more than 100 volunteers and a structure that allowed the race to run smoothly.
The day has been accompanied by a splendid day that has allowed a majestic landscape, full of contrasts, characteristic of the south of the province of Huesca and, in particular, of the Bajo/Baix Cinca region, to shine in all its splendor.
