These are some of the lines of work being carried out by the General Directorate of Agri-food Promotion of the Government of Aragon
During his visit to Fraga yesterday, Thursday, April 25, the Minister of Agriculture, Livestock and Food, Ángel Samper, attended the XIII Institutional Conference of the Irrigation Community of Aragon and Catalonia and later visited the headquarters of the Bajo/Baix Cinca Region, accompanied by the mayor of the city, Ignacio Gramun and by Juan José Orries, general director of Agri-food Promotion.
Orries has already held two meetings in Fraga with representatives of the agricultural sector and indicated that the General Directorate is working on several agri-food initiatives, such as strengthening the existing designation of origin for ' Fraga Figs ' to increase its recognition and also obtaining a designation for Paraguayan peaches from the area . The Director General also spoke about the irrigation projects underway in the region and the ongoing discussions to ensure the projects are carried out properly, as well as determining which crops will be best suited to these new irrigated areas.

For his part, Samper spoke about the importance of understanding the region, stating, " Practicing connections within public administrations is crucial ." Along these lines, the councilor indicated the work being done by the Government of Aragon to strengthen the collaboration between the Agricultural Extension Offices (OCA) and the provincial offices, to understand the situation in each area and identify areas for improvement. The same applies to collaboration with INAGA (Aragon Institute for Agricultural and Livestock Research) and the Ebro River Basin Authority (CHE). Working together is essential to providing solutions for the sector. " All the information that reaches the council comes from municipalities and districts ," Ángel Samper stated, emphasizing the value of local administrations for the agricultural development of each region.
The Regional Minister spoke of agri-food as the driving force of Aragon and the significant role of areas like Fraga and the Bajo/Baix Cinca region. He also outlined one of the Ministry's objectives, " reaching the consumer ," and the important work of departments such as Alimentos de Aragón (Foods of Aragon), brands, and designations of origin as fundamental tools for achieving this goal.
