The Barcelona Youth Symphony Orchestra will perform in Fraga on March 16, according to the town council; it will be the first time that 'Lo Castell' has hosted a symphony orchestra concert in the city's history.
The Barcelona Youth Symphony Orchestra (JOSB), conducted by Carlos Checa, will perform at Fraga Castle on March 16 at 19:00 p.m., marking the first time the city has hosted a symphony orchestra concert. During the performance, the ensemble will play Tchaikovsky's 1812 Overture and Prokofiev's ballet Romeo and Juliet . This performance places Fraga, the capital of the Bajo Cinca region, alongside two other iconic venues in Spain: the Palau de la Música Catalana and the Sala Mozart at the Zaragoza Auditorium, where the orchestra, comprised of approximately 70 musicians, will perform on March 10 and 17.
According to the Councilor for Education, David Casanova, “it is a great opportunity for all the residents of Fraga to enjoy a concert of the caliber that the Barcelona Youth Symphony Orchestra will offer.” “Bringing this orchestra to Fraga to perform has been made possible thanks to the work of our director of the Municipal Conservatory, Javier Lanao, whom I want to thank for promoting this event, and the rest of the members of the Conservatory and Music Institute,” said Casanova, who hopes that “everyone enjoys this high-level chamber music concert.”
For his part, Lanao expressed that, “as a member of the management team of the Fraga Municipal Professional Conservatory, it is a source of pride to have brought the Barcelona Youth Symphony Orchestra to our city and also to thank its director, Carlos Checa, for inviting two of our students, Ingrid Olmos and Pau Agustí, to participate in the concerts in Fraga and Zaragoza, so I hope they take advantage of and enjoy this great opportunity.”
The Barcelona Youth Symphony Orchestra's concert in Fraga will be free, with tickets available on a first-come, first-served basis. Tickets can be collected starting this Friday at the Tourist Office in the morning, from 9:30 a.m. to 13:00 p.m., and at the Music Institute's office in the afternoon, from 16:15 p.m. to 20:00 p.m.
