The renovation of the Sala Florida is progressing well. After the initial clearing of debris and furniture, work on this iconic Fraga venue has continued with the removal of the asbestos cement roof, which was completely extracted this week. In the coming days, work will begin to reinforce the slope of the adjacent ravine, and after that, the new roof will be installed, thus completing two crucial structural steps in this project. With this project, the city will finally have an optimal facility for cultural activities.
The renovation of this building, which has been disused for several decades and whose lease was extended last March to 65 years , has received a grant of €724.000 from European funds . This grant will allow for the replacement of the roof, the renovation of the climate control system, and the installation of energy-efficient LED lighting, improving the energy efficiency of the future auditorium.
The Councillor for Urban Planning, Esther Rubio, has assured that “ in this first month and a half of construction, progress has been made and we are moving at a good pace, so if everything goes well, in 2025 we will have a perfectly equipped and suitable space to hold film screenings, theatre performances and other cultural activities .”
