Dolores Corbella del Río will turn 100 on July 22nd and Pura Montull Ezquerra turned 103 on April 23rd
The mayor of Fraga, Ignacio Gramún, and the councilor for Culture, María José Barrafón, visited Dolores Corbella del Río and Pura Montull Ezquerra, two centenarian residents of the town, this Wednesday. Dolores will reach her 100th birthday this year, on July 22nd, while Pura, who turned 103 on April 23rd, was unable to receive this recognition at the time due to pandemic restrictions.
Both neighbors were presented with a bouquet of flowers and received a letter from the mayor congratulating them on their longevity and praising the value of older people to society.
Gramún congratulated Dolores and Pura on their longevity, noting that “very few people reach a century of life, and I believe it is invaluable to recognize the experience, wisdom, and history these women possess. Furthermore, it is an honor and a source of pride for me, as mayor, to carry out these kinds of events that celebrate the lives of our elders.”
For her part, the councillor in charge of Culture endorsed the mayor's words and said that "this is a very rewarding event for everyone, for Pura and Dolores, for their families and also for us."
