The Mequinenzana Women's Association “La Dona” presents the activities of its Cultural Week 2024
The program kicks off on Monday, March 4th with the making of the solidarity artisan soap and includes cinema, talks, a concert, painting the wall with hot chocolate, a trip to Barcelona, a performance by television personality Sara Escudero and the reading of the International Women's Day manifesto.
From March 4th to 10th, the Mequinenza Women's Association "La Dona" celebrates its Cultural Week, coinciding with the commemoration of International Women's Day. As is tradition, the activities will begin with the making of artisanal soap for charity, which will take place on Monday, March 4th, starting at 10:00 AM in the back patio of the association's premises. This day of community building involves a large number of members, and each year the association collaborates with a different charity. The week will continue with a screening of the film "The Braid" on Tuesday, March 5th, at 5:00 PM in the Goya Room. Directed by Laetitia Colombani, the film tells the story of three women fighting for their freedom in different situations in different parts of the world.
The following afternoon, at 5:00 PM, two talks are scheduled at Spai Jove. The first, on oral health, will be given by dentist María Rosa Esteve, and the second, by law graduate Paquita Oliver, will offer advice on various legal issues we encounter throughout our lives. On Thursday, March 7th, starting at 3:30 PM, in front of Spai Jove, a new art demonstration will take place, highlighting the role of women in rural areas. Hot chocolate will be served to all attendees.
On Friday, March 8, International Women's Day, a manifesto will be read at noon in the Town Hall Square in an event open to the public. That afternoon, the Mequinenza Municipal Orchestra will give a concert at the Goya Hall at 6:30 p.m., premiering a piece composed by Mequinenza musician and composer Santiago Oliver, dedicated to the "La Dona" Association. The program of events will conclude on Saturday, March 9, at 6:00 p.m. with the show "Tiempo al tiempo" (Time Will Tell), a monologue by television personality Sara Escudero, which deals with growing older, and with a trip to Barcelona on Sunday.
