The calls for applications for 2022 and 2023 are now open, with a total grant amount of €8.000 for each year. The deadline for submitting applications is June 4th.
The Mequinenza Town Council has announced the call for applications for Sports Grants for promising local athletes who have excelled in official competitions in both 2022 and 2023. Among the new features compared to the first edition is that the amount allocated for this purpose has been doubled, increasing to 8.000 euros for each year, and the criteria for determining the grant amount have been adjusted, maintaining a maximum of 1.200 euros per athlete.
This dual call for applications stipulates that 40% of the total amount will be divided equally among the applicants. The remaining 60% will be awarded based on sporting achievements according to the scoring criteria established in the terms and conditions, which, along with the corresponding annexes, can be consulted on the Mequinenza Town Hall's website. This scoring takes into account the sporting results provided by the respective Federations, applying a correction factor based on the number of licenses held by each Federation at the national and regional levels.
To be eligible for these grants, applicants must have resided in Mequinenza for at least one year and be registered residents, hold a federation license for at least one year, not be serving a sanction classified as serious or very serious, and present up to three sporting achievements attained between January 1 and December 31, 2022 or 2023, or both periods, among other requirements. Applications may be submitted until June 4.
In the first edition of the Scholarships, corresponding to achievements in 2021, 16 applications were submitted, of which 12 were accepted after meeting the requirements set out in the terms and conditions. The amount of each scholarship ranged from 180 to 520 euros, totaling 4.000 euros.
