The bulky waste collection point in Mequinenza has extended its opening hours and will now be open from Wednesday to Sunday, from 7:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. without interruption. This means the service, which is provided at the municipal warehouse located on the road leading up to the cemetery, has increased from two days a week to five, and from five hours a day to seven and a half.
With this measure, the Mequinenza City Council, which is in charge of management, intends to respond to the growing demand detected and avoid the dumping of improper waste in the green containers (urban solid waste), the blue containers (paper and cardboard), the yellow containers (plastic), the brown containers (organic waste), and the glass igloo, which result in financial penalties that affect the cost of the garbage collection service, which is the responsibility of the Bajo Cinca region.
The service maintains the same conditions for users, who are reminded that it is strictly forbidden to deposit bulky items outside of the designated hours and area. In other words, items cannot be left unattended outside the facility without any oversight from the Municipal Brigade staff. To prevent these practices and identify potential offenders, the municipal facility's video surveillance system will be in use.
