The event was held this Sunday, August 25th, and in addition to local authorities, it was attended by Isaac Claver, president of the Provincial Council of Huesca.
The president of the Huesca Provincial Council, Isaac Claver, was one of the authorities responsible for launching the starting rocket at the 25th anniversary of the International Descent of the Cinca River. The 19-kilometer course began in Fraga, where a festive and sporting atmosphere prevailed this Sunday morning; first, the more than 200 professional paddlers registered with the federation started, and ten minutes later, the 300 amateur paddlers in the popular category set off. The race then continued through Torrente de Cinca before finishing in Mequinenza.
The morning concluded with the presentation of trophies and awards. This year, the Cinca Values Award went to the Seprona (Nature Protection Service) of the Civil Guard, and recognition was also given to the volunteers who "year after year give their best to ensure everything runs smoothly." Claver, accompanied by the president of the Bajo Cinca region, José Javier Ferrer; the mayor of Fraga, José Ignacio Gramún; and the mayor of Torrente de Cinca, Rubén Morell, was responsible for launching the rocket to officially start the 25th edition of the descent.
In its 25th year, the event deserves recognition for “the region’s complete commitment to the competition and its ability to place the entire territory at the forefront of international canoeing,” stated Isaac Claver. “I congratulate the entire organization for its long history and for maintaining the high sporting, tourism, cultural, and environmental standards of this benchmark event for all of us,” concluded the president of the Provincial Council of Huesca.
The Fraga City Council has congratulated and thanked the "associations, volunteers, and members of the security forces for their essential work in the event." Similarly, the Torrente de Cinca City Council has congratulated the organizers of the downhill race and thanked everyone involved.
In addition, the event was used to promote the recently revived 'Higos de Fraga' brand with a game and prizes in the river park, before the canoeists set off.
