The good weather and a light breeze accompanied this event that goes beyond sports and dedicates all its proceeds to the Spanish Association Against Cancer
At 8:00 a.m., the 322 participants in the 16th Annual Solidarity Hiking March set off in staggered groups after a complimentary lunch for all registered participants. This year's turnout was slightly lower than the 2023 edition due to scheduling conflicts with other events and the proximity of Easter. This sporting event promotes healthy habits and also supports a good cause, as all proceeds go to the Spanish Association Against Cancer (AECC).
The race unfolded without any notable incidents under the watchful eye of fifty volunteers who assisted participants at the start and finish, as well as at the aid stations. In addition, Civil Protection personnel from Bajo Cinca, the Civil Guard, and healthcare workers ensured their safety.
The weather cooperated throughout the morning with sunshine, a pleasant temperature and a light breeze that made it easier for the participants to complete the route previously chosen by each of them from among the three proposed options of 3, 16 and 23 kilometers.
Of the total participants, 45 people chose the "Dorsal 0" route, 185 the short route, and 92 the long route. All of them were able to enjoy spectacular natural landscapes and the final stage of fruit tree flowering, especially cherry and almond trees, as well as a sight that had not occurred for at least three years due to the drought, with the Mequinenza reservoir at maximum capacity.
In addition to lunch, the organizers had planned four refreshment points along the route, an inflatable park, a gift for the participants, and snacks at the end of the route to recover energy.
