Among those registered is Judith Corachán from Catalonia, the brand new Spanish long distance triathlon champion 2024, European runner-up in 2022 and world runner-up in 2019, who has returned to competition after her recent motherhood.
The 6th Mequinenza Half Triathlon will start on Sunday, July 14th at 8:00 AM from the Capri Club grounds. Organized by the Mequinenza Town Hall and the Mequinenza Triathlon Club, the race will serve as the Aragon Half-Distance Triathlon Championship and counts towards the National Half-Distance and Long-Distance Triathlon Ranking and the Ibercaja Triathlon Club League.
More than 120 triathletes will take part in the 100-kilometer race, which consists of a 1,9-kilometer swim, a 77-kilometer bike ride, and a 21-kilometer run. Among the registered participants is Judith Corachán, who won the Spanish Long Distance Triathlon Championship last May in Oropesa. The Catalan triathlete returns to competition after recently becoming a mother, having previously achieved runner-up positions at the World and European Championships in 2019 and 2022, respectively.
The route has been modified compared to previous editions due to ongoing construction work in the swimming and cycling areas. The location of the swimming segment remains the same, although the course layout and the area for entering the water have been altered due to sediment mobilization tests being carried out by the Ebro River Basin Authority at the Municipal Regatta Course. The cycling circuit, which will now connect the towns of Mequinenza, has also been modified due to anticipated roadworks on the A-1411, the start of which has been delayed. The running segment remains unchanged and will take place on a circuit along the riverside promenade and the N-211 road between the weigh station and Joaquín Torres Square.
The event will cause traffic restrictions on the day of the race on the N-211, A-1411 and A-2414 roads, affecting vehicles traveling to or from the towns of Fabara, Nonaspe, Fayón, Granja d'Escarp and Mequinenza. Fishing and navigation will be limited in the area of the swimming section and also in the surrounding area of the Capri Club, where the transition area is located, with the passage of people and vehicles restricted or prohibited in order not to hinder the setup or the development of the event.
