The Fraga Town Council's festival committee has chosen the creation of Fraga artist Leire Vinós Casas from among the eight works submitted to the competition
Leire Vinós Casas, from Fraga, has won the competition to design the poster for the 2024 Pilar Festival with her work, 'Light, Color, and Tradition'. The Fraga Town Council's festival committee selected her design from among eight entries, four of which were by local artists, two from Alfaro (La Rioja), one from Burriana (Valencian Community), and one from Mutilva (Navarra). The Councilor for Festivals, Mapi Aquilué, remarked that, after the vote, "discovering that the winning poster was created by a young woman from Fraga was a double joy."
“There are still a couple of months left, but everything is practically finalized, we have the festival program finished and all that remains is for these two months to pass quickly so we can enjoy a great Pilar Festival,” said the councilor during the presentation of the poster, which took place on Tuesday morning in the plenary hall of the City Hall.
For his part, Mayor Ignacio Gramún, who congratulated the winner of the competition and thanked the other artists for their participation, said that “we recently received the first news about the festivities with the return of the peñas to the Sotet esplanade, and the presentation of this poster serves to get things warmed up for the Pilar Festival.”
Finally, the poster's creator explained that "with this work I wanted to represent the Pilar Festival." To do so, Leire Vinós used motifs "very representative of the city," such as the bell tower of the Church of San Pedro, the crown of the Virgin of Pilar, her yellow mantle, and the fairgrounds. "It was my first time entering the competition and I didn't expect to win, so I'm very happy," the winner declared.
Leire Vinós Casas is a 17-year-old student who has just completed the intermediate cycle of Digital Prepress and will continue with higher studies.
