The intensity of the flames and their visibility during the night caused the fire to attract the attention of residents of nearby municipalities.
Firefighters brought under control a riverside vegetation fire early Friday morning in the area of the river, between the municipalities of Zaidín and Velilla de Cinca, according to information provided by the firefighting operation itself.
The alert was received around 10:00 p.m., and the fire affected an area of approximately 300 meters of riverside vegetation. The rapid response of the firefighters allowed them to control the spread of the flames before they reached the railway line.
According to the Fire Department, the fire was brought under control around 2:00 a.m. Although the intensity of the flames and their visibility at night drew the attention of residents in nearby towns, the operation managed to stabilize the situation within a few hours. The Fire Department explained that it was a riparian vegetation fire, similar to others that occasionally occur in this type of environment, a type of fire well-known to the local firefighters, who have specific protocols for responding to these kinds of incidents.
Smoke visible from nearby municipalities
During the night, some residents of nearby towns, such as Ballobar, reported seeing smoke coming from the fire area, which caused concern as it coincided with the large forest fire that continues to be active in the La Litera region.
However, the firefighting team clarified that the two fires are unrelated and that the fire between Zaidín and Velilla de Cinca was quickly brought under control, without posing a comparable risk.
Unrelated to the La Litera forest fire
The riverside fire occurred while a significant number of firefighting resources continue working on the large forest fire declared in the La Litera region, which has already ravaged more than 4.000 hectares and forced the preventive evacuation of several population centers.
The timing of the fire coinciding with this major blaze caused the fire in the Bajo/Baix Cinca region to generate greater interest among residents, although firefighters insist that it was a completely separate incident and that the situation was brought under control during the early hours of the morning.
The causes of the fire have not yet been revealed.
