The provincial mobilization will take place this Saturday, June 13th in Huesca and will bring together citizen platforms from different regions to demand urgent improvements to the road network.
The demand for improvements to the A-2214 highway , which connects the towns of Ontiñena and Candasnos , will be part of the large provincial demonstration called for this Saturday, June 13, in the city of Huesca. The protest, dubbed “Black Saturday,” aims to unite the demands of various citizen groups that have been denouncing the deterioration of numerous regional highways in the province of Huesca for months.
The gathering is scheduled for 11:00 a.m. in the vicinity of the Huesca Congress Palace and will bring together neighborhood representatives, social entities, business organizations, town councils and citizens from different parts of Alto Aragón.
Among the demands that will be present is the situation of the A-2214 between Ontiñena and Candasnos , a road widely used by residents, farmers, transporters and workers in the area, whose improvement has been demanded for some time by the affected municipalities.
A protest that unites several regions
The call brings together platforms linked to different roads in the province, including the A-130 , the A-131 , the A-125 , the A-1239 , the A-2605 , the A-2609 and the intersection between the A-129 and the A-131 in Sariñena , representing regions such as Bajo Cinca , Los Monegros , La Litera , Cinca Medio , La Hoya de Huesca , Jacetania and Sobrarbe.
The organizers believe that the condition of many of these roads has ceased to be a local problem and has become an issue affecting road safety, economic activity, and equal opportunities in rural areas.
According to the joint statement, numerous roads present problems such as deteriorated pavement, potholes, deformations, lack of visibility and insufficient signage, circumstances that directly affect the daily commutes of thousands of people.
Road safety and a future for rural areas
The platforms insist that improving roads is not just a matter of infrastructure, but also of regional development. They believe that having safe and modern roads is essential to guaranteeing basic services, facilitating economic activity, and combating depopulation.
During the last few months, various protest actions have taken place in different parts of the province, from rallies to slow marches, with the aim of demanding investments that will allow the modernization of a road network that many users consider insufficient for current needs.
Now, all these demands will converge in a single provincial mobilization that aspires to become one of the largest protests held in recent years in defense of the roads of Alto Aragón.
Presence of the Lower/Baix Cinca
The participation of representatives and residents linked to the A-2214 between Ontiñena and Candasnos will allow the demands of the Bajo/Baix Cinca region to be present in this joint mobilization.
The organizers are calling on citizens to join the demonstration and demand actions that improve road safety and communications in the area.
Under the slogan "Decent roads now ," the protest will seek to convey to the Government of Aragon the need to prioritize investments in a road network that they consider essential for the future of the towns in the province.
