This Saturday, June 1st, renowned designer Lorenzo Caprile visited Fraga to speak about 19th-century fashion. His talk was originally scheduled to coincide with 'Día de La Faldeta' (Day of the Skirt), but it had to be postponed. Many were eagerly anticipating the lecture; reservations sold out in just a few hours, and additional space had to be set up, increasing the capacity to 200 people at 'Lo Castell'.
Caprile, of Italian origin but born in Spain, is one of the most prestigious designers in haute couture and, among other models, created the wedding dress of Infanta Cristina.
The discussion revolved around Federico de Madrazo's painting 'The Countess of Vilches'. Caprile chose this painting to analyze the fashion and customs of the 19th century. It was during this period that the first chemical dyes began to be used, as natural dyes had been used previously.
The Councillor for Culture, María José Barrafón, expressed her gratitude for the warm reception of the talk and Lorenzo Caprile's willingness to visit the city, highlighting the collaboration between the City Council and the Amics de Fraga Cultural Association in organizing the event. Caprile, who has become better known for his role as a judge on the Spanish Television program 'Maestros de la costura' (Masters of Sewing), also mentioned Rosita Hernández, a resident of Fraga, as one of the driving forces behind the event.
