The campaign to assist seasonal agricultural workers has begun in Fraga. The Fraga City Council, Cáritas Diocesana Barbastro-Monzón, and the Social Services Department of the Bajo/Baix Cinca region are collaborating on this initiative . The reception, counseling, and basic needs assistance for those arriving without employment contracts or accommodation will be provided at the municipal shelter until June.
The campaign to assist agricultural workers began this Thursday at the municipal shelter, where reception, information, advice, and basic necessities will be provided to those arriving in the city without employment contracts or accommodation, following the same procedure as last fruit season. This facility will continue to operate until next June, when the renovations to the Clara Campoamor housing complex , which will bring it into compliance with the Technical Building Code, are scheduled to be completed.
For now, the work on the accommodations, whose project was awarded to the company Construcciones y Transportes Albalate SL for a total of €189.900, is progressing very well and is expected to be completed in the coming weeks. The project management was entrusted to the Fraga-based company Espacio Diseño.
The Fraga City Council, Cáritas Diocesana Barbastro-Monzón and Social Services of the Bajo/Baix Cinca region are collaborating in this campaign to assist agricultural workers, just as in 2023, when 51 people had access to the accommodation service and 57 applications were also registered in the information, advice and basic needs coverage service.
The mayor of Fraga, Ignacio Gramún, has stated that this inter-institutional collaboration “is fundamental for the proper functioning of a resource that is very necessary for people who arrive in our city without housing and without work, and who come willing to carry out an essential task for Fraga and the surrounding area.”
Regarding the progress of the works, the mayor stated that "they are following the correct course and the established timelines, so if this final stretch continues to develop as it has so far, in a few weeks we will have the Clara Campoamor housing complex operational."
