The musician, disc jockey and producer from Zaragoza, 'Idiope', will inaugurate this new cultural initiative in the Bajo Cinca municipality with his performance.
The Mequinenza Town Council has launched a new cultural initiative that aims to add new attractions to draw visitors and, from a different perspective, showcase the town's tangible and intangible heritage through art. This is the Culture, Art, and Heritage Cycle, an annual, itinerant initiative that, in its first edition, has chosen the Church of Our Lady of the Assumption in the "Poble Vell" (Old Town), demolished in the early 80s for the construction of the Roba-roja reservoir, as was the remnant of the old town center before it, as the central theme for a series of activities.
The first event will take place on Saturday, August 3rd at 9:30 pm with a concert in the ruins of the building, of which some elements remain, such as part of the columns and the altar, along with the sacristy. The Zaragoza-born musician, DJ, and producer Idiope will present live, on a novel stage in an unusual location and setting for this type of event, making it truly exceptional. He will perform songs from his two albums: “Cierzo lento,” with its clear influences of electronic indie and organic sounds, fusing Aragonese folk songs, and “Tañen furo,” the soundtrack to a documentary that captures sounds from the Aragonese Pyrenees and blends them with electronic music. This unique concert in a unique space inaugurates a series that will be completed in the coming weeks with a talk and an exhibition, both of which will also feature the former Church of Our Lady of the Assumption. Entry is free and the Mequinenza Town Hall will provide free transport from Plaza Joaquín Torres, opposite the Town Hall Square, to facilitate access for those who wish to attend.
