The town of Castronuño in Valladolid hosted the 32nd Spanish Freshwater Float Fishing Championship for clubs in the senior category. The event was organized by the Castile and León Fishing and Casting Federation. The competition, a qualifier for the world championship, featured 10 teams, including the "El Siluro" Fishing Society from Mequinenza, which had recently won a bronze medal in the regional championship.
The Mequinenza team, made up of José Antonio Moncada, Antonio Berenguer, Josep Blanch, Juan Carlos Roldán, Marco Antonio Granda and Gonzalo Gallego, obtained a sixth place overall with podium options until the third and final round of the competition, which was won by the Amigos de Guadalquivir Fishing Society, followed by the Plasencia Fishermen's Union and the Olot Sports Fishing Federation.
As for the competition, the "El Siluro" Fishing Society started with a modest eighth place in the first round. In the second round, they improved to fourth place, which put them fifth in the provisional standings, very close to the top positions. In the third and final round, which had to be temporarily suspended due to a storm, things didn't go so well, and they finished ninth in a tight provisional standings.
