Hope and enthusiasm have continued to fuel the green wave in Fraga, raising over €15.000 for cancer research.
Despite the rain, the 11th Race for Life drew over 3.000 people to Fraga on Sunday morning, according to the town council. This charity walk, which began on the Paseo Barrón, once again demonstrated the commitment of the people of Fraga and the surrounding Bajo Cinca region.
The route, which wound through some of the main streets and avenues of the city of Fraga, was enlivened by batucada bands, brass bands, stilt walkers, and face painting for the children. In addition, balloons with messages were released at the finish line, and, as a new feature, participants could place a sticker on a mural explaining why they were participating in the event under the slogan 'Who are you participating for?'
The president of the Spanish Association Against Cancer in Bajo Cinca, Fina Escándil, has valued “the turnout very positively despite the rain, which makes us happier because it demonstrates the great commitment that this city has to this race and to this cause.”
In addition, Escándil thanked “all the participants and the collaborating companies and entities because thanks to them, to everyone's effort, we can allocate a significant amount of money to the fight against cancer.”
