The Fraga City Council requests the Government Sub-delegation in Huesca to reinforce security in the capital of the Bajo/Baix Cinca region during the summer months.
The Fraga Local Security Board established the police deployment for the celebration of La Faldeta Day on Sunday, April 21st. During the meeting, the Board agreed on collaboration and coordination among the security forces to protect the public during this Festival of National Tourist Interest.
This ordinary session of the Local Board was chaired by the mayor of Fraga, Ignacio Gramún, and the sub-delegate of the Government in Huesca, Carlos Campo, and was attended by representatives of the Local Police, Civil Guard, National Police and the Government of Aragon's Attached Police, as well as the territorial delegate of the Government of Aragon, Javier Betorz, and the spokespersons of the municipal groups Entre Todos Bajo Cinca, Ángel Cabrera, and Vox, Mari Carmen Galán.
The mayor of Fraga, Ignacio Gramún, expressed his gratitude to all parties involved in ensuring the smooth running of La Faldeta Day in terms of safety. “Next April 21st will be one of the most important days for our city, and we commend the excellent cooperation between the different agencies that will allow all our planned activities to take place safely, respectfully, and without incident,” the mayor stated.
Increased security between May and August
Furthermore, during this session, Gramún conveyed to the Deputy Government Delegate in Huesca the need to reinforce security in the capital of the Bajo Cinca region with the Civil Guard between May and August due to the upcoming start of the fruit harvesting season. “During the summer months, more than 3.000 people arrive in Fraga and more than 10.000 throughout the Bajo Cinca region to work in the fruit picking, so it is crucial to increase the number of security officers to match the actual number of people who will be living in our city and thus guarantee the protection of our residents,” the mayor stated.
Gramún also indicated that “for now, the fruit campaign is expected to be good in terms of the quantity of kilos that will be harvested, so if everything progresses according to forecasts, the need for labor is expected to be high and this flow of population that arrives in the summer will not be less than what we have had in other years.”
