In order to reinforce safety and traffic flow, there will be a restriction for heavy vehicles on the N-II and the AP-2 in the vicinity of the venue
The Fraga Security Board, in an extraordinary session, has established the police deployment for the Monegros Desert Festival, scheduled for July 27th. The meeting agreed on police collaboration and coordination to control public safety and traffic during the event, which is expected to draw approximately 45.000 people and will involve the usual special operation by the Civil Guard.
The extraordinary meeting of the Fraga Local Security Board was chaired by the town's mayor, Ignacio Gramún, and the Deputy Government Delegate in Huesca, Carlos Campo. Also participating were the Territorial Delegate of the Government of Aragon in Huesca, Javier Betorz, and representatives from the Civil Guard, the National Police, the Police Force attached to the Autonomous Community, and the Fraga Local Police.
The Civil Guard will deploy extensively in the area, with reinforcements from other provinces, as well as various specialized units (cavalry squadron, canine unit, air assets, etc.) and support from the French Gendarmerie. This special operation will focus on traffic control and road safety; maintaining public safety and order; and preventing crimes against public health and property.
For their part, the Local Police will be deployed in the town center and will accompany the technical services in the inspection of the venue, while the Attached Police will supervise compliance with the regional regulations for public shows.
Restriction on heavy vehicle traffic
In order to improve road safety and traffic flow, given the anticipated large influx of vehicles, the Provincial Traffic Headquarters has established a restriction for heavy goods vehicles weighing over 3.500 kg on the N-II and AP-2 highways as they pass near the Monegros Desert Festival grounds. Trucks will not be permitted to travel on the N-II between kilometer markers 394,500 and 431,00, nor on the AP-2 towards the N-II via exits 67 and 114 in both directions, from 08:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 27, until 20:00 p.m. on Sunday, July 28.
