The Guardia Civil's Roca Team in Fraga has arrested 10 people and is investigating one for an alleged theft of 3.000 kilos of almonds and another for disobedience and resistance to law enforcement officers.
The organized group was caught red-handed by the Civil Guard officers.
Agents from the Roca Team of the Civil Guard of Fraga have arrested 10 people and investigated another, as alleged perpetrators of a crime of theft of 3.000 kilos of almonds and another of disobedience and resistance to Agents of the Authority.
The events had been occurring since the beginning of January, with the owner of a plot of land in the town of Belver de Cinca reporting the continuous theft of almonds from his property.
Following the initial investigation, on January 08th, the Roca Team of Fraga, in collaboration with the Rural Guard of the irrigation community of the area, located fourteen people in the act of stealing almonds at the scene of the crime. They observed that inside five vehicles used by the alleged perpetrators, there were loads of almonds, as well as nets and poles inside a trailer, which they had used for harvesting the nut.
After the officers ordered the alleged perpetrators to stop, they fled with the stolen goods in four vehicles. The officers managed to arrest five people and recover 800 kilos of almonds, as well as the tools they used to commit the theft.
In the following days, after carrying out efforts to locate the rest of the alleged perpetrators who had fled, the Roca Team arrested five more people and investigated another, the latter for the crime of almond theft, by inducing third parties to steal said product.
The people arrested, aged between 19 and 53, are men, residents of the Bajo Cinca region, and the person under investigation is an 82-year-old man and resident of the Cinca Medio region.
The value of the stolen almonds would amount to about 3.000 euros, with 800 kilos recovered out of the 3.000 kilos stolen.
The Roca Team of the Civil Guard of Fraga, prepared proceedings for an alleged crime of theft and another of disobedience and resistance to an Agent of the Authority, which together with the detainees were handed over to the Court of First Instance and Instruction No. 2 of Fraga, the defendants being released with precautionary measures.
