Improper use or purchase from unauthorized retailers may cause serious injury
Agents from the various Weapons and Explosives Interventions of the Civil Guard will inspect the places where pyrotechnic devices are sold and used.
During the summer months, countless patron saint festivals are celebrated in the different towns of the province of Huesca; this leads to an increase in the sale and use of pyrotechnic articles by citizens, both privately and in festive events (fire bulls, fire runs or wheelbarrow wars), so the Civil Guard of Huesca, through the Weapons and Explosives Interventions of the province, will carry out a campaign dedicated especially to inspecting both the places of use and the places of sale of this type of pyrotechnic material.
The Civil Guard in Huesca recommends purchasing fireworks only from authorized retailers and reminds the public that street vending of fireworks is prohibited. The current regulations governing pyrotechnic articles and ammunition establish, among others, the following categories:
Category F1: Pyrotechnic devices of very low hazard and negligible noise level intended for use in delimited areas, including pyrotechnic devices intended for use inside residential buildings, for use by persons over 12 years of age.
Category F2: Low hazard and low noise pyrotechnic devices intended for outdoor use in delimited areas, for use by persons over 16 years of age.
Category F3: Medium-hazard pyrotechnic devices intended for outdoor use in large open areas and whose noise level is not harmful to human health, for use by persons over 18 years of age.
Safety tips for responsible use of pyrotechnic devices.
Keep them in their packaging until use and do not carry them in loose units in your hand or among your clothes or in your pockets, as they can be started by heat, friction or impact (always follow the instructions for use outlined on the outside of the packaging).
Do not tamper with its components or remove its contents. Do not smoke near it or light it next to others.
When using them in public, remember that the street belongs to everyone and that, if there are restrictions imposed by Municipal Ordinances, you should only use them in authorized areas. Use them in open spaces where there is no risk of fire.
Do not throw them at people or animals. If you are going to walk your dog, avoid the noisiest times of day and always keep it on a leash to prevent it from running away.
They should not be lit while being held in the hands. They should be placed on the ground, away from the face and hands to avoid burns. If burns occur, wash the affected area with cold water, do not apply any type of ointment, and go to a health center as soon as possible.
Do not light them inside containers (plastic or glass bottles, cans, tins), because they can produce uncontrolled shrapnel and/or fire.
They should not be used under the influence of alcohol or drugs. Their purchase is prohibited under such conditions.
Minors must use pyrotechnic articles authorized for their age and, where applicable, under the supervision of an adult.
During festive events where fireworks are used, participants must not pick them up from the ground, throw them by hand, or kick them. They must wear appropriate clothing that adequately protects the body and head, as well as suitable closed-toe footwear, avoiding sandals or flip-flops. Finally, the use of fireworks is prohibited while the Red and Red Plus levels of the Forest Fire Danger Alert Level (NAPIF), published daily on the Government of Aragon's website, are in effect.
