The search uncovered more than 500 marijuana plants and a total of 83 kg of buds of the same substance in two plantations in Fraga and Velilla de Cinca
Agents from the Judicial Police Team of the Civil Guard of Fraga, with reinforcement from different Units of the Huesca Command and the Reserve and Security Group, proceeded in March to arrest three people and investigate three others, men between 27 and 60 years old, residents of Barcelona, as alleged perpetrators of a crime against public health for cultivation and trafficking of drugs, within the framework of Operation MATOVE.
The events date back to last November, when authorities became aware of the possible existence of at least one indoor marijuana plantation in the south of the province of Huesca. Following further investigation, two plantations were discovered, one located in the municipality of Fraga and the other in the town of Velilla de Cinca.
The results of this investigation were brought to the attention of the relevant court, which issued separate orders authorizing entry and search at both locations.
Finally, on the morning of March 06, the Territorial Team of Judicial Police of Fraga, Organic Unit of Judicial Police of Huesca, USECIC Huesca, and GRS of Zaragoza, carried out the entries and searches, culminating in the arrest of two people who were carrying out surveillance work in both places.
As for the plantation located in the municipality of Fraga, it was inside an old farm that was adapted for the cultivation of marijuana; in its search a total of 83 kg of flowering tops of marijuana (buds) were discovered, in their final drying phase.
Regarding the plantation discovered in the town of Velilla de Cinca, it was located inside an industrial building that had also been adapted for the cultivation of marijuana, where more than 500 marijuana plants were found distributed in 3 rooms.
Further investigations led to the arrest on April 16 of a man based in Barcelona, in addition to the investigation of 3 other people.
As a result of the arrests, the Court of First Instance and Instruction No. 2 of Fraga (Huesca) decreed the detainees to be held in custody without bail, and released on bail for the 3 people under investigation.
