The duo FuSiOnA2, formed by these two artists, will offer a concert that pays tribute to two of the most emblematic voices in Spanish music.
The Poble Vell of Mequinenza will host a new event in the Culture, Art and Heritage Cycle (cCAP) 2026 on August 15th at 21:30 pm . It is titled "Entre Luz y Chavela" (Between Light and Chavela) , a show starring the duo FuSiOnA2 , formed by the singer Lorena Margalló from Fraga and the guitarist Rubén Jiménez from Zaragoza.
The recital, lasting approximately an hour and fifteen minutes, will pay tribute to Luz Casal and Chavela Vargas through a selection of some of their best-known songs. The repertoire will encompass various styles, including bolero, ballads, folk, pop, and blues.
Beyond the music, "Between Luz and Chavela" seeks to bring the emotions and experiences present in the songs of both artists closer to the audience. The production combines musical performance with elements such as staging, costumes, and props.
A duo born in Jotalent
Rubén Jiménez , a native of Zaragoza, has a long and distinguished career in flamenco. He trained with artists such as José "El Rubio," Manolo Sanlúcar, and Gerardo Núñez, and has shared the stage with renowned figures like Tomatito, Duquende, and Paco de Lucía. In 2013, he was recognized as the Best Flamenco Guitarist of Aragon , and he currently combines his artistic career with running his own guitar and singing school.
Lorena Margalló , a native of Fraga, began her artistic career at a very young age in the world of jota, where she won several awards in competitions in Aragon and Navarre. Later, she expanded her musical repertoire to include styles such as soul , R&B, and electronic music.
The artist from Fraga gained wider recognition after winning the second season of Jotalent , the Aragón TV program. It was during her participation in this competition that she met Rubén Jiménez, who was part of the show's band. This collaboration led to the creation of FuSiOnA2 , a project that now arrives in Mequinenza with this tribute to Luz Casal and Chavela Vargas.
A new proposal from the cCAP cycle
The performance is part of the programming of the Culture, Art and Heritage Cycle (cCAP) 2026 , promoted by the Mequinenza City Council with proposals related to the historical, cultural and ethnographic heritage of the municipality.
This year's program included activities such as the presentation of the book Vida i llengua a la mina i al riu , by Maite Moret and Héctor Moret, winner of the VII Jesús Moncada Research Prize; a theatrical tour inspired by the literary universe of the writer from Mequinenza; the concert Del Pirineo al Bajo Cinca , dedicated to traditional Aragonese music, as well as exhibitions, guided tours, theater and other concerts.
With "Entre Luz y Chavela" , Poble Vell will once again host a cultural event that links music with one of the most representative spaces in the history and memory of Mequinenza.
