The Councillor for Culture, María José Barrafón, has stated that the poster “is a much-loved piece for the people of Fraga, but it is also crucial that it is appreciated outside of Fraga.”
With just a month to go before the return of one of the most emotional days for the residents of Fraga, La Faldeta Day, the City Council unveiled this Thursday the poster for this year's event. It recreates the central act of this Festival of National Tourist Interest, the Fraga wedding, culminating in the bride and groom's exit from the Church of San Pedro.
Furthermore, the poster celebrates the traditional clothing of Fraga, highlighting the different garments and accessories that make up the traditional costume, as well as characteristic details of a Fraga wedding such as the throwing of sugared almonds at the end of the ceremony.
The poster for La Faldeta Day was created by local photographer Mar Montull, while Rosita Hernández was responsible for coordination and the models for the photograph were the young people from Fraga, Iris Chueca and Víctor Casas.
The Councillor for Culture, María José Barrafón, explained that “this year we wanted to focus on one of the most significant moments of our Day of La Faldeta, which is the departure of the bride and groom from the church of San Pedro.”
“The poster is a very important and highly anticipated part of La Faldeta Day. In recent years, a great deal of work has been done to give it the value it deserves and achieve the results we are seeing,” commented Barrafón, who added that “the La Faldeta poster is a much-loved piece for the people of Fraga, but it is also crucial that it appeals to people outside of Fraga so that they are drawn to it and visit us on April 21st.”
The Day of La Faldeta will be celebrated on April 21st, although the program, which will be revealed during the coming weeks, will cover practically the entire month of April.
