The Fraga station is one of thirteen centers where inspection equipment will be updated as part of a program that will mobilize some 17 million euros until 2030.
The Vehicle Inspection (ITV) station in Fraga is part of the modernization program underway in Aragon, which includes a total investment of around 17 million euros until 2030. In the case of the county seat of Bajo/Baix Cinca, the planned work will focus on renewing the machinery used during inspections , as part of a technological upgrade that will reach thirteen stations in the region.
The Vehicle Technical Inspection Facilities Improvement Plan 2020-2030 is being implemented by the concessionary companies following the extension of the service concessions until December 31, 2030. The actions include the incorporation of new equipment, the construction of stations, the renovation of existing facilities, and various measures to expand service capacity.
Fraga, along with Barbastro, Monzón, Teruel, Jaca, La Almunia, Gallur, Caspe, Utebo, Quinto, Alcañiz, Calaceite and Cariñena, is among the 13 stations included in the technological renovation.
Replacing and upgrading the machinery will allow for the incorporation of more modern equipment into the inspection processes , with the aim of increasing the reliability of the controls and streamlining the operation of the stations.
A network of 34 fixed stations in Aragon
The program goes beyond the renovation of existing centers, since one of its main lines of action is the territorial expansion of the ITV network through new facilities.
The stations built in Albarracín, Graus, Sariñena, La Puebla de Híjar, and Daroca are already operational, while Tarazona and Ejea de los Caballeros have new buildings. A future station is also planned for Sabiñánigo, where the necessary land has already been acquired.
Once the plan is completed, Aragon will have 34 fixed vehicle inspection stations, with a total of 70 inspection lines , in addition to eight mobile units for agricultural vehicles.
The Government of Aragon is proposing this expansion of the network especially as a way to reduce travel in areas with a more dispersed population and in those where private vehicles play a significant role in daily commutes.
Reforms, mobile units and extended hours
The plan also includes renovations to stations already in service. Work in Calatayud and Alcañiz has been completed, while a comprehensive renovation of the facilities is underway in Huesca.
In rural areas , eight mobile agricultural units are maintained to facilitate inspections of tractors and other machinery without requiring owners to visit a fixed station. The network has also added a new unit for the Bajo Aragón region.
Another aspect of the program is adapting schedules to demand . Some stations have already increased their opening days or hours, and these adjustments are expected to continue in the coming years as service needs require.
