Agents from the Traffic Subsector of the Civil Guard in Huesca have investigated the driver of an articulated vehicle for an alleged crime against road safety, for driving in a manifestly reckless manner, causing a road accident on the AP-2 motorway
The incident was recorded by a motorist driving behind the wrecked truck.
Agents from the Traffic Investigation and Analysis Group (GIAT) of the Traffic Subsector of the Civil Guard of Huesca, have investigated a person as the alleged perpetrator of a Crime against Road Safety, for driving a motor vehicle with manifest recklessness, specifically endangering the life or integrity of people, after having caused a traffic accident.
On January 24th, a traffic accident occurred at kilometer marker 81,900 of the AP-2 motorway, Madrid-bound, within the municipality of Candasnos. An articulated vehicle overturned on the road after leaving the left side of the road and colliding with a metal guardrail. The driver, a 63-year-old man from Burgos, was unharmed.
Agents from the GIAT of the Traffic Subsector of the Civil Guard of Huesca began the investigation of the events, after analyzing a video that was shared on social networks, in which the articulated vehicle was seen driving irregularly, invading on several occasions both the right shoulder and partially the left lane of the road, until at PK 81,900 the traffic accident occurred.
In the process of investigating the events that occurred, the agents considered as a possible cause of the accident a distraction while driving, motivated by drowsiness, fatigue or sudden illness of the driver, finally ruling out the last reason as there was no pathology.
On March 05th, agents from the GIAT of the Traffic Subsector of the Civil Guard of Huesca proceeded to investigate the driver of the articulated vehicle as the alleged perpetrator of a Crime against Road Safety, for driving a motor vehicle with manifest recklessness, by driving irregularly, temporarily leaving the truck out of control and, being a professional driver with many years of experience, he could have left the road upon noticing the first symptoms of fatigue or drowsiness, during the ten kilometers that the truck traveled abnormally and which was recorded in the video.
The proceedings conducted by the Civil Guard of the Huesca Traffic Subsector were handed over to the Fraga Duty Court, and the suspect must appear when deemed necessary by the competent authority.
