The suspect was driving an articulated vehicle with breath alcohol levels exceeding the legal limit, after suffering a road accident resulting in material damage.
The Traffic Accident Investigation Team of the Civil Guard Detachment of Fraga have investigated a person as the alleged perpetrator of a crime against road safety, consisting of driving a motor vehicle under the influence of alcoholic beverages and exceeding legally established blood alcohol levels of more than 0,60 mg/liter, being involved in a road accident resulting in material damage.
At approximately 8:00 p.m. on January 24, the Traffic Operations Center of the Civil Guard of Huesca received a report of a traffic accident at kilometer point 407,900 of the N-2 national highway (Madrid – La Junquera), downhill direction and within the municipality of Candasnos, consisting of a vehicle leaving the road on the left side and colliding with a metal guardrail protecting an articulated vehicle.
A patrol from the Fraga Traffic Detachment of the Civil Guard arrived at the scene and identified the truck driver, who was unharmed, as a 25-year-old man from Alicante.
The officers observed that the aforementioned driver showed clear signs of being under the influence of alcohol, so they proceeded to perform breathalyzer tests, which yielded rates of 1,55 mg/l and 1,44 mg/l in the first and second tests respectively, the maximum rate allowed for professional drivers being 0,15 mg/liter in breath.
The Traffic Unit of the Civil Guard in Fraga has initiated proceedings for an alleged crime against road safety, and the case has been handed over to the Fraga Duty Court where the driver must appear as a suspect when required by the Judicial Authority.
