The Civil Guard in Fraga is investigating the driver of an articulated truck who registered a blood alcohol level almost 10 times the legal limit. The driver had pulled over to the shoulder of the AP-2 motorway after running out of fuel.
On June 7th, a patrol from the Traffic Detachment of the Civil Guard of Fraga, while carrying out surveillance work on the AP-2 motorway, observed a truck stopped on the right shoulder and occupying part of the traffic lane, at kilometer point 77,800 of the road in the direction of increasing and municipal boundary of Peñalba.
The officers, after activating the priority lights to signal the presence of the heavy vehicle to the rest of the users, proceeded to identify its driver, a 53-year-old man and resident of the Campo de Borja region, who stated that he had stopped at the place because he had run out of fuel, these facts being verified by the patrol.
Likewise, the driver showed clear signs of being under the influence of alcohol, so the officers performed breathalyzer tests, which yielded a positive result of 1,37 mg/liter, this rate being almost 10 times higher than the permitted limit of up to 0,15 mg/l for professional drivers.
The Road Accident Investigation Team (EIS) based in Fraga, belonging to the Road Accident Investigation Unit (UNIS) of the Traffic Civil Guard Subsector of Huesca, initiated proceedings for the investigation of the driver of the articulated truck, for an alleged Crime Against Road Safety, by driving a motor vehicle, having exceeded the legally established breath alcohol levels of more than 0,60 mg/liter.
The proceedings were sent to the Duty Court of Fraga, and the aforementioned driver must appear when the competent Judicial Authority deems it appropriate.
