The mayor of the municipality, Antonio Sanjuan, was very critical of the complete lack of willingness, in his words, of the Bajo Cinca region to collaborate in the launch of the “Magda Godia” Senior Citizens' Residence and Day Center.
The Mequinenza Municipal Sports Pavilion hosted the main event of the Mequinenza Association of Pensioners and Retirees' Sociocultural Week, which was attended by 200 members. The event included an afternoon snack with live music from the duo Los Guajiros, gifts, and raffles. Prizes were awarded for the various competitions held, and two members, Apolonia Martínez and Santiago Llop , were honored, accompanied by their families.
At the event, the president of the Association, Antonieta Ibarz, thanked those present for their high participation in the organized activities.

The Sociocultural Week of the Mequinenza Association of Retirees and Pensioners kicked off with a talk by family doctor Laura Pobo, who spoke about vaccines and dementia, encouraging attendees to socialize and be active seniors. The week also included card tournaments (guiñote, no val a vadar, botifarra, and petanque), as well as the traditional water jug race, a hot chocolate gathering, a communal lunch, and a dance session in the Town Hall Square with music by the Music Lovers Trio.
