The events came to light following an investigation by the Fraga Traffic Detachment of the Civil Guard into a driver for alleged crimes against road safety.
Agents from the Traffic Investigation and Analysis Group (GIAT) of the Traffic Subsector of the Civil Guard of Huesca, proceeded to investigate two people who worked as doctors in a Driver Recognition Center in the province of Barcelona, for an alleged crime of document falsification by omission, by not carrying out the complementary tests, to a driver diagnosed 17 years ago with a psychiatric disorder.
In the early hours of June 2nd, agents from the Traffic Detachment of the Civil Guard of Fraga, proceeded to investigate the driver of a vehicle for two alleged crimes against road safety, for driving in the wrong direction on the AP-02 motorway, for 21 kilometers, specifically endangering the life or integrity of people.
While officers were identifying the driver, he appeared agitated and nervous, stating that he had been medically diagnosed with a psychological disorder 17 years prior and required medication. Following negative results for alcohol and drug tests, the patrol from the Fraga Detachment notified medical services for his transfer to the hospital in Lleida for evaluation. The suspect is a 45-year-old man from Premià de Mar (Barcelona).
In light of these facts, agents from the GIAT of the Traffic Subsector of the Civil Guard of Huesca, began the investigations to clarify them, going to the Driver Recognition Center where the driver under investigation had last renewed his driving license.
After analyzing the tests performed on the driver during the medical examination at the center, it was observed that the results were far from those established within the parameters considered normal and that, despite this, the complementary tests had not been verified by omission, giving the results obtained as suitable.
Finally, on July 17, officers from the GIAT of the Civil Guard of Huesca, proceeded to investigate two doctors from the Driver Recognition Center, for an alleged crime of document falsification by omission, being a 69-year-old man and a 64-year-old woman, both residents of the town of Barcelona.
The GIAT of the Huesca Civil Guard Subsector prepared both the proceedings during the investigation of the driver who drove in the wrong direction, and the extension proceedings for the investigation of the two doctors of the Recognition Center, being sent to the Court of First Instance and Instruction number TWO of Fraga, the investigated parties having the obligation to appear before the Judicial Authority when required.
