The security measures in place ensured that the festival proceeded smoothly without any significant incidents, with over 5.253 informational assistance services provided to the approximately 45.000 people who attended the event.
Between July 27 and 28, the Civil Guard carried out a large-scale public and road safety operation for the 31st anniversary edition of the Monegros Desert Festival, which welcomed some 45.000 people, who arrived in some 12.900 vehicles, of which 510 were caravans and 170 buses, and various actions were carried out.
Civil Guard officers from different specialties were deployed in the festival area from early morning on the 27th until 8:30 p.m. on the 28th, with various units from this Huesca Command participating, with support from personnel from the Aragon Zone, Lleida Command, Rural Security Group (ARS) of Barcelona, Zaragoza and Leon, Aragon Traffic Sector, Northeast Air Sector, Canine Service and Telecommunications Service of the Madrid Command.
The operation has resulted in over 5.253 instances of providing information, as well as various police actions, yielding the following results:
- 6.827 breathalyzer tests and 148 drug tests for drivers, with a result of 64 positive for alcohol and 97 for drugs.
- 3.527 people were identified in accordance with Law 4/2015 on the Protection of Citizen Security, with a total of 595 complaints filed under different regulations, 591 of which were under Law 4/2015 for possession and consumption of narcotic substances.
- Number of complaints for other Laws or Regulations: 2 complaints for tobacco sales, 16 for street vending and 1 for unauthorized drone flight.
- 4 complaints under Law 4/2015 for carrying weapons.
- 20 people have been arrested for crimes against public health for drug trafficking, 6 for resistance and/or assault on an authority agent, 1 for robbery with violence, 1 for robbery with force in things, 3 for theft, 1 for Viogen, 1 for injuries, and 7 investigated for crime against road safety for alcohol consumption and 4 investigated for driving a motor vehicle with a lost driving license.
- Recovery of 22 mobile terminals that had been stolen during the event, within the venue, with arrests in this area.
The proceedings, detainees, narcotics and other seized items will be placed at the disposal of the Head of the Court of Instruction number 2 of Fraga and the Government Sub-delegation in Huesca.
