500 Civil Guard officers will be part of the operation that will take place between July 27 and 28 for the music festival. "Monegros Desert”, which will take place in the municipality of Fraga (Huesca).
With the aim of guaranteeing public order, citizen security and road safety, the Civil Guard will deploy a large operation made up of some 500 Civil Guard officers, including personnel from different specialties: Citizen Security, Judicial Police, USECIC, Canine Group, Traffic Subsector, SEPRONA, PEGASO Team and Fiscal and Border Detachment, all belonging to the Civil Guard Command of Huesca.
In addition, there will be external reinforcement from GEDEX personnel, the Air Service, the Canine Service, the Cavalry Group and the Rural Security Group (ARS), deployed for the occasion from the Commands of Madrid, Valdemoro, Barcelona, León and Zaragoza.
As in previous years, the French National Gendarmerie, specialists in Citizen Security, will be present, all within the framework of the collaboration that is usually carried out between the Civil Guard and the Gendarmerie, who will make the effort to support Spain, given the coincidence of the event with the opening of the 2024 Olympic Games to be held in Paris.
The Traffic Subsector of the Civil Guard of Huesca will receive support from the Traffic Sector of Aragon, to reinforce the various controls that will be carried out, both to guarantee road safety, and to try to minimize the effects on traffic in the access/exit area to the Festival grounds.
To this end, one of the two lanes of the N-II coming from Catalonia will be opened for access to the event, and heavy vehicle traffic will be restricted on the N-II during Saturday and Sunday, so that traffic flows normally.
As part of these services, efforts will be made to prevent all types of crime, reinforcing preventative measures to combat drug trafficking and consumption, as well as the theft of mobile phones and other belongings from festival attendees, taking advantage of the crowds and the carelessness of their owners. These crimes are often carried out by organized groups who try to exploit the high concentration of people attending the event.
Safety recommendations
In recent years, mobile phones have become the most prized item for thieves at music festivals ; therefore, the Civil Guard makes a series of recommendations to avoid their theft and the inconvenience that this entails:
Store it in your bag, backpack or fanny pack, always across the front (in plain sight) and with the zippers perfectly closed, even secured.
Never carry your mobile phone in the back pockets of your trousers/skirt, as it is an easy target for thieves.
Create a backup of your device's information before attending one of these events.
Always keep it locked with a pattern or password.
Activate location and remote locking to keep track of your device at all times. On Android phones, activate the "Find My Device" option, and on iPhones, "Find My Device." With these options enabled, you can locate your device if it's lost, either from another phone or from a computer.
Carry your device's IMEI number with you to block it if it's stolen. If you don't know it, dial *#06# on your mobile phone.
How to protect your personal data
The owner needs to take further steps to protect their security, since the theft of the device can also lead to the loss of money from the bank account or even identity theft on any social network.
But this procedure to safeguard your personal information must anticipate a possible theft of your mobile phone, so the recommendation from the Civil Guard is:
"If you dial *#06# on your mobile phone, the IMEI will appear on your screen. Save it, and in case of theft, your operator will be able to block the device," they recommend.
