This project expands the city's green areas and creates a healthy leisure space in the 'Trashondos' area, a growing zone that did not have children's play areas.
The mayor of Fraga, Ignacio Gramún, the councilor for Urban Planning, Esther Rubio, and the councilor for Parks and Gardens, Ángel Cabrera, visited the new urban forest this Friday morning. The forest has been open since April. With the completion of this project, located in Trashondos, next to the pumptrack, the city expands its green spaces and creates a healthy recreational area in a growing neighborhood that previously lacked children's play areas. The contract for the project was awarded to Hormigones Fraga SL for €191.521,40.
Gramún, who thanked Esther Rubio and the Urban Planning department for “working very hard on this type of project”, said that “it is a small green space within the city”.
“I hope people can enjoy it, and I do want to make a special mention and tell the residents of Fraga to pay special attention to its care, since, after all, these projects are done for the good of all citizens and it is of utmost importance to pay special attention to the care of public things,” said the mayor.
The Councilor for Urban Planning explained that "this is a continuation of what was done with the pumptrack, which was one of the green areas in Trashondos that had been neglected." "The aim of this urban forest is to improve a green space, a kind of woodland, although it will take two or three years for the trees to grow enough to provide some shade," she argued, adding that she hopes "residents will be able to enjoy this area."
“This is a long-term project, and like everything else, as you know, it takes a lot of work, but it’s finally finished,” commented Cabrera, who, echoing Rubio’s sentiments, urged the residents of Fraga to “wait two or three years and you’ll see it’s a fantastic facility. It’s also right next to the pumptrack, with a children’s play area, creating a spectacular leisure zone.”
