The City Council is making progress on the Accessibility Plan and has already completed five of the 18 planned actions to eliminate architectural barriers.
The Fraga City Council is carrying out work this week to improve accessibility and eliminate architectural barriers at the intersection of Príncipe de Viana and Pío Baroja streets. The work involves lowering the curbs and creating a pedestrian crossing , thus removing an obstacle that hinders the daily mobility of residents who use wheelchairs or push strollers.
This project is part of the Accessibility Plan, a document developed jointly and in coordination with Fraga's associations for people with disabilities. The study includes a total of 18 priority actions on public roads, five of which have already been carried out, including the one currently underway at this intersection.
The mayor of Fraga, Ignacio Gramún, has praised the urban development work that will improve the daily lives of many people. “The development of this plan is the result of dialogue and consensus with associations for people with disabilities in Fraga . Their input is fundamental in identifying the real mobility needs in daily life,” commented the mayor, who added that “with interventions like this, we are moving towards a barrier-free municipality, where all residents can move with complete autonomy and safety through our streets and access municipal facilities.”
For his part, the Councillor for Mobility, Óscar Gracia, explained that “the objective of this government team is to continue transforming Fraga into a more inclusive, comfortable and safe city , progressively eliminating those barriers that make it difficult for anyone to enjoy our streets, squares and services on equal terms.”
Five actions taken
With this week's work on Príncipe de Viana and Pío Baroja streets, the Fraga City Council continues to implement improvements progressively. To date, five projects have been completed under this mobility plan, including the improvements at the intersection of Príncipe de Viana and Pío Baroja.
- Installation of an acoustic traffic light adapted for blind people on Aragón Avenue 134.
- Signage for an accessible route at the Bus Station.
- Renovation and improvement of the exterior pavement of the Heated Swimming Pool.
- Installation of tactile paving tiles in front of the access stairs to the River Park.
