The Fraga City Council began work this week to improve access to the historic center via San Quintín Street. The main objective of this urban development project is to optimize traffic flow on one of the key access routes to the historic center , ensuring a safer environment for both pedestrians and vehicles.
The project will involve the demolition of the building located at 23 Parroquia Street. Demolition of this building will free up a considerable amount of space, which will be used to widen the sidewalk . This increase in surface area will improve visibility and make pedestrian traffic much safer.
The mayor of Fraga, Ignacio Gramún, stated that “we are continuing with the established roadmap thanks to this project, which we had planned for some time and which is part of the Sala Florida project .” “This is a positive step to improve access to the historic center, as it will significantly enhance visibility, which will mean greater safety for people who travel through this area ,” Gramún concluded.
Traffic planning and impacts
In order to carry out these improvement works with complete safety, from this Monday, July 6th until August 14th, access to the Historic Quarter via San Quintín Street will be closed in the direction of Paseo Barrón ; the road will remain open in the direction of Avenida de los Reyes Católicos, thus allowing the exit from the Historic Quarter via this street.
Although the execution of this project was initially planned for the months of May and June, the work was postponed to the summer to take advantage of the school holiday period and thus cause the least possible disruption.
