The restrictions will be in place from June 1st to September 3th and affect the area comprising public utility forests 149 and 429 within the municipality of Fraga.
The mayor of Fraga, Ignacio Gramún, has issued a decree regarding fire prevention during the summer months. Given the high temperatures typically recorded in summer, the mayor has decided to establish a series of restrictions to be observed from June 1st to September 30th in the area encompassing public utility forests 149 and 429 within the municipality of Fraga.
The decree includes six measures. The first prohibits making fires in the mountains, including in homes with chimneys inside farmhouses, in order to prevent sparks or small incandescent particles from posing a fire risk.
Likewise, it is forbidden to carry out any type of camping in the mountains; to throw away garbage or any type of waste; to smoke or abandon burning objects or any kind of material likely to cause a fire; and the use in the mountains of objects or tools that may give off any type of spark or flame.
Regarding vehicle traffic, the ordinance prohibits leaving the main roads, using shortcuts, or entering wooded or scrubby areas. Drivers are reminded to drive at a moderate speed.
