The City Council will soon put the works out to tender for a value of 2.9 million euros
The Fraga City Council has announced, through a press release, the approval in the Ordinary Plenary Session held this Thursday, of the modification of the comprehensive rehabilitation project of the Florida Hall as a multipurpose auditorium.
After reviewing the initial project, following the previous tender's failure to attract any bids, the full municipal council has approved increasing the budget for the new tender to €2.900.108,56. This matter, which was added to the agenda as an urgent item after being reported to the spokespersons' meeting and the information committee, received support from the People's Party and Entre Todos Bajo Cinca, opposition from the Socialist Party, and an abstention from VOX.
Regarding the €724.000 grant from Next Generation EU funds, the mayor of Fraga commented: “I’m not going to mislead the people of Fraga because that’s not my style, nor that of this government team: it’s true that it will be very difficult to meet the maximum deadline for the grant set by the Ministry, which states that the work must be completed by September 30, 2024. We know it’s difficult, but as long as there’s a possibility, we’re not going to consider the grant lost, as other municipalities have already done or considered doing.”
Furthermore, Gramún announced that the City Council has contacted the owner of Sala Florida to extend the lease, which was initially set at 50 years in 2019. “He has verbally informed me—we haven't put it in writing yet—that there won't be any problem extending this lease.”
Meanwhile, the press office of PSOE Huesca has issued a statement indicating that PSOE Fraga criticizes "the disastrous management" being carried out by the City Council for the rehabilitation of the Sala Florida.
The Socialist Municipal Group denounces that “not only will a grant of €724.000 from Next Generation EU funds be lost, but some projects are being delayed so long that by the time work begins, there won't be enough time to complete them,” stated spokesperson Ramón Salamó. “Fraga deserves better, but the governing team is stuck in mediocrity,” they asserted.
