The Fraga City Council's regular March plenary session approved on Thursday an amendment to the agreement for the transfer of use of the Florida Cinema. This extends the term of the future auditorium-theater to 65 years instead of the initially agreed 50. The amendment passed with votes in favor from the People's Party (PP) and Entre Todos Bajo/Baix Cinca, votes against from the Socialist Party (PSOE), and an abstention from Vox. Mayor Ignacio Gramún expressed his gratitude to the Arnau family for their willingness to extend the agreement.
On the other hand, the council also gave initial approval to the regulations for the use and operation of the municipal hostel, and the new rules governing the operation and access to the Espacio Prodeo coworking space. Both items were approved unanimously.
Other highlights, approved unanimously, included the awarding of the City of Fraga's coat of arms to the National Police force, as well as the awarding of the medal and the cross for police service for 20 and 25 years of service respectively.
Furthermore, in this session in which all the points of the resolution were approved, several files were passed, such as the sale of the mistletoe harvesting rights and the grazing rights, the rectification of the municipal inventory of assets and rights of the City Council, a modification of the tax ordinances, the 0,5% increase in the remuneration of municipal staff with effect from January 1, 2023, the extension of the lease agreement for a plot of land to the Bajo-Baix Cinca Region for the expansion of the regional landfill, the extrajudicial recognition of credits from several lists of invoices and the approval of the Annual Regulatory Plan for the year 2024.
The plenary session concluded with the debate on the three motions included on the agenda; all of them were approved. The first, presented by the PSOE (Spanish Socialist Workers' Party) and relating to the local languages of Fraga, was approved with the support of the Socialist municipal group and Entre Todos Bajo Cinca (Among All of Bajo Cinca), the negative vote of VOX, and the abstention of the PP (People's Party).
The second motion, also presented by the Socialists and concerning the expansion works of the Fraga Logistics-Industrial Platform and Transport Center, was approved unanimously. The third motion, from VOX, regarding the denunciation of the consequences of the European Green Deal for national interests and in defense of the primary sector, was approved with the support of VOX and the PP, and the votes against from the PSOE and Entre Todos.
