The new "Kings of Pumptracks" tournament will also be held, with two special prizes of €250.
This Saturday, July 13th, the Fraga Pumptrack circuit will host the fourth round of the Aragón Cup for this discipline. The Councilor for Sports, David Casanova; the event promoter, Rafael Izquierdo; and the young rider and Spanish runner-up, Ángel Estevan, presented the competition, which will take place this weekend in the capital of the Bajo/Baix Cinca region.
Izquierdo indicated that 100 participants are expected in the event, from the children's category to elite, coming from various parts of Aragon and other communities, such as Zaragoza, Cerler Benasque, Lleida, Monzón or Calatayud, among others.
Furthermore, during this week, there are already dozens of competitors training on the Fraga circuit every afternoon.
David Casanova, the city councilor for sports, highlighted the importance of the regional and national competitions that have been taking place and being promoted in the city in recent years. " One hundred competitors means one hundred families will be visiting Fraga. Some will eat here, stay overnight, and shop. That's not counting all those who come to train the week before ," the councilor stated. With these figures, it is estimated that around 500 people, including competitors, their companions, and fans, will visit the city of Fraga this week . " Sports tourism is very important, and in Fraga, we also know how to be welcoming to all our visitors, " Casanova added.
To accompany the competition, Rafael Izquierdo indicated that there will also be food trucks, music, stands, and restrooms . " It will be a great party surrounding the competition so that people can enjoy themselves and have a good time ."
The Aragón Cup is contested by categories, but a new addition, making its debut in Fraga , is the "Kings of Pumptrack" competition , where all cyclists can compete, regardless of age. This format promises to be spectacular and will pit competitors from elite riders down to children, without age restrictions. " We'll see established athletes on these types of tracks facing off against promising young talents; it could be spectacular, " they stated at the presentation. Furthermore, there will be two prizes of €250 each for the male and female champions of this tournament.
Young Ángel Estevan, the current Spanish Pumptrack runner-up, will be in Fraga this Saturday. Other prominent names in the sport will also be visiting the capital of the Bajo/Baix Cinca region, including the Estevan siblings and Ruth Abad, who have qualified for the World Championships , and Roger Farrer, a junior rider from Lleida.
Training will take place from 18pm to 19pm on Saturday, July 13th, and the competition will be held from 19pm to 22:30pm.
